One of the best things you can do for a volunteer is to clearly communicate what is expected of them. Expectations can come in the form of training and weekly encouragement, but it should always begin with a clear and concise job description.

A volunteer job description should always include a description of the position, a list of required duties, an estimated time requirement, who the volunteer reports to and the skills and abilities required by the role. A clearly written job description will effectively communicate expectations and better prepare new volunteer for what to expect.
